Magical Transformations

I hate losing streaks...
last modified: Sunday, May 30, 2010 (2:46:41 PM CST)
I have been losing every single cel auction I've bid on lately *sigh* This is most discouraging. I hope that means a lucky streak is coming up - I'm seeing a few new cel auctions I want to follow.

Back with new series section, lots more to scan...
last modified: Friday, May 22, 2009 (6:56:26 PM CST)
Hey guys, I'm back! Miss me? Well, I bring tidings of Mahoujin Guru Guru with me, and I have so many sketches I'm going to have to span scanning and posting over a few days. So keep looking for updates, and I hope those who celebrate have a fun Memorial Day Weekend :)

Happy 8,000 hits! Plus my new love for RAGS
last modified: Friday, September 12, 2008 (5:23:40 PM CST)
Thank you so much guys! I'm up to 8,000 hits (well, 8,400 to be exact). Can't wait to reach 10,000 :D It really makes me feel like people visit and enjoy my meager collection.

And just what did I mean by rags? Why, Raggedy Ann and Andy, of course! Last weekend I purchased a Raggedy Andy cel from an estate sale (check my Misc. section), and though I wasn't into them much as a kid (I think I had an Ann doll, though), I jumped on Google and Youtube to see if I could find any information on the episode it came from. I didn't find anything on that, but I did watch some shorts from the 30s and the 1977 film A Musical Adventure. I absolutely fell in love with it, and I owe it all to the new cel :D I haven't been able to get the blue camel's song out of my head since I saw it - it's crazy addicting. Makes me feel jealous that I didn't get into this years ago, so I don't really have any nostalgia for it ;)

Oh, and forgive me for my long absense. Money is hard right now, so I had to completely hault cel buying (Andy was a fluke). It'll probably remain very slow for quite awhile, so I'm sorry that updates will be sparse :( In this economy it can't be helped.

What I've learned...
last modified: Monday, April 14, 2008 (5:19:13 PM CST)
Thanks so much for the comments I've received so far from Anime Beta Open House.

What I've learned:

-The green is a little too much ^^;; Maybe it's my browser or something, but you all have a point that it doesn't fit. I'm not sure what I'm going to have to do next for a layout, though. Any ideas?

-Incorporate Pokemon more. LOL, OK. This appears to be the one everyone mentioned most. I will use Pokemon for the next layout and try to sprinkle in cute pictures in places. Glad you liked the cels :)

-The sketches are hard to see. I agree. Also, the cels aren't much bigger than the thumbnails, which is "off-putting." Sometime late Spring or in the Summer I will try to rescan everything. Would you all be mad if I shut down the gallery during that time?

Thanks so much for the feedback. It means a lot :) Later!

This little piggy had ANOTHER update...
last modified: Sunday, March 30, 2008 (1:21:11 PM CST)
Please check out the newest Tonde Buurin cels I have in my gallery. They're really cute and I hope people like them :)

Additionally, if you're a member of Anime-Beta, please consider giving me feedback in the Open House. I always love getting feedback/suggestions.

This little piggy had an UPDATE!
last modified: Thursday, March 20, 2008 (11:07:58 PM CST)
I will be adding new Tonde Buurin cels as often as I can for the next week or so. Please check them out! :D

By the time I'm done, I also hope to have a brand-spanking new layout for the gallery. Please look forward to it :D

EDIT: I forgot to thank those who helped me locate Tonde Buurin episodes 1-4. It was really appreciated, thank you soo much :D

Wishlist Cel! + Tonde Buu-lues...
last modified: Saturday, February 23, 2008 (11:35:32 AM CST)
I uploaded the cel last week, but forgot to write about it here. I am a very, very happy Pokemon collector. You have no idea how long I angsted about what to do - I was worried that someone would come and snatch it away from me, as this has happened often in the past - but I didn't know if I could get enough money in time. So, I did some sacrificing and sold another cel, and now I have it. Seems to be worth it so far :D It's from one of my favorite scenes in the whole series, and I never dreamed that something like that would ever pop up (at least at a reachable price). In case I haven't been clear, it's the Team Rocket cel where Musashi/Jessie is sitting, eating buttered bread. Go check it out!

I'm so bummed. Animesuki.com used to have a link to the first four episodes of Tonde Buurin. Supposedly a subbing group only did those, and not the rest of the series (why? I don't know. You should FINISH what you start, I say). But I kept forgetting to download them, and now the link has disappeared. I'll never get to see anything behind the opening and closing themes now :( On that note, stay tuned - some rather piggish updates will be coming next month, perhaps in time for my birthday!

BIG update coming!
last modified: Monday, August 06, 2007 (10:03:06 PM CST)
My lot of Tonde Buurin cels have arrived, so please watch out for my updates, which I will try to do in the span of a week or two. There's a lot of 'em, and a lot of cuteness :)

Not very good (I hate the banner) but it will do for now. I wanted a soft, sort of romantic, princess-y theme, since that's used a lot of the time in shoujo. I almost went with Team Rocket, but couldn't find the right pictures to use. Maybe next time!

Just a touch nervous...
last modified: Sunday, July 15, 2007 (9:15:48 PM CST)
I just bought a cel that would complete my Team Rocket celebration set. HOWEVER - this seller is well known for being a bit sour to work with and can take months to ship a cel. So, I am very, very nervous right now. I would've declined if I didn't want it so badly :( I can only hope that luck will be on my side.

I don't know if I can mention his name, but just check out a certain thread at Anime Beta ("Has anyone had a problem with"... I believe it's called) to see what I'm talking about.

Am I lucky, or is someone punishing me?
last modified: Tuesday, July 10, 2007 (3:58:02 PM CST)
THREE people have sent me offers on their cels at the same time. THREE! All of these cels I want quite badly, all of these cels ones that I will probably never have the chance to buy again. One cel is on Ebay (and cels of this show only show up once or twice a year if you're lucky), one cel I asked about in March and she just now got back to me, one would complete a set I have.

I'll work this out somehow, but it's going to be frustrating.

New layout!
last modified: Friday, March 09, 2007 (3:35:10 PM CST)
I did love my Da! Da! Da! layout, but I've had for it at least a year, and was getting a little sick of it.

So, this time I've used Arnold, that lovable football head, with a baby blue background (not sure if I like it, though - if it's hard to read, let me know). It took me forever to color what I did of that picture, so darnit, I was going to use it! I was going to do Muppet Babies, but I don't have a cel of that show yet.

Expect a cel update within the next two weeks.

PS - My birthday is tomorrow :)

My (almost) 10 year anime fandom anniversary...
last modified: Thursday, March 01, 2007 (6:06:59 PM CST)
This summer will be my 10 year anniversary of being an anime fan officially. I did watch anime before then, but I didn't know what it was - stuff like La Petit Prince, The Noozles, Lil' Bits, Maya the Bee, etc. when they aired on Nickelodeon.

It makes me feel old, but then, I feel like an "experienced" fan, and I am certainly wiser than I was. I know what to avoid, I've been through all the debate wars (fansubs vs. licensed, sub vs. dub, etc.), I am more open to things. I miss the "fresh" feeling but I like having dozens of shows under my belt, even though it means burnouts and predictibility. In MY day, you had to send away for fansubs, darnit! You had to sit on a waiting list for the distributor to send tapes to you. People could "sponsor" if they wanted (and I actually DID for a Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne ep).

What was my first show? Sailor Moon ^_^

Better save all this to say again in the summer.

By the way, thank you very much to the kind people who contacted me about my feelings on my gallery. I feel a lot better knowing that people enjoy them and my collection is not as "sad" and loser-ish as I think.

The source of my cel unhappiness...
last modified: Friday, February 23, 2007 (3:31:17 PM CST)
I know now why cel collecting is so frustrating for me. I'm so busy comparing my own gallery to others, it makes me feel miserable. "Oh look, they have 50 cels of this series! I gotta catch up!" or "Wow, what a pretty/rare cel! I'm so upset that I don't have one like that!" "Why do they have all the nice ones? They must be rich/know something I don't know!" are common in my mind.

What's worse is I do this to myself. After I buy/win a cel I decide to do a series search and find all these wonderful cels, to the point where I plummet into feeling that I shouldn't have even bothered with what I just got, it suddenly seems pathedic/doesn't matter anymore. I guess I want so badly for my collection to be awesome...

Anyway, not sure what I can do to stop this. I want to start collecting Nadia: Secret of Blue Water, but I haven't found anything good, and anything DECENT I find either has crazy bidders or the price was stupid in the first place. $450 for a head shot of Nadia? I mean, come ON!

Be there ever a cure for loneliness?
last modified: Sunday, January 07, 2007 (12:21:13 AM CST)
My sister and her fiance finally moved out on Friday. Now, with my dad gone to help them for the week, I am totally alone :( Well, OK, not totally. There's... the dog.

They left a good 40% of their junk in the basement, messily strewn EVERYWHERE. I guess I'll be expected to clean it up. Hangers, bottles, furniture, even clothes and shoes. Hey, maybe I should hock this stuff on Ebay? They left it, it's fair game ;)

School started on Thursday. I have two English classes that don't seem like they'll be TOO hard (no papers, whoo!). But you never know with college.

No cels popping up? New BJD it is!
last modified: Thursday, October 05, 2006 (5:37:11 PM CST)
I've been on dryout for the last few months. Nothing is really popping up that I want. Ah well. Now I've been able to focus on my BJD (ball-jointed doll) obsession, and recently put a Luts Soony on layaway. If you knew how much these dolls can cost, you'd know why it has to be on layaway!

I have cels on my walls! (photo)
last modified: Monday, August 14, 2006 (5:39:47 PM CST)
I was FINALLY able to talk my dad into putting up the curtain rod I got from Ikea (I simply do NOT trust myself with a wall and a drill :)). It's very random and unorganized right now. Until I can get some oversize cel bags these were the only ones I felt safe enough to hook up. Stupid rs photo gallery is so confusing!

Thank you, Ikea... or not...
last modified: Thursday, August 03, 2006 (6:30:20 PM CST)
Wow, Ikea. You sure do have a lot of neat stuff. Too bad you're always so insanely crowded I can scarcely enjoy you!

Two months ago an Ikea opened not too far from my mom's house. We finally decided to visit last weekend, hoping the crowds had died down (I'm told traffic was so bad police were closing lanes and you had to take a trolly to the entrance). Well, it was still that bad. Maybe even worse. They DO have some awesome things, but it was so hot, and so busy, I was exhausted and stressed by the time we were done. You have to make a day trip out of this place. It takes a good 3 or so hours to go through it all.

One good thing. I managed to find this curtain rod that you can also use to hang pictures. I thought it would be neat to display my favorite cels this way (it would cost too much to frame them). I'm a little concerned about the clips, though, and I'm hoping that, since I mostly keep my blinds closed, they won't be in "direct sunlight."

It shipped, but it didn't?
last modified: Thursday, July 13, 2006 (7:27:53 PM CST)
Some time ago, I won and paid for a Daa! Daa! Daa! cel. It arrived in the US just fine. Now it's suddenly listed as shipped, when I can't even remember if I asked for it to be shipped. I emailed Nick at SMJ and asked them to check on it, to see if I had in fact asked for it, and then forgotten I did. He told me that only one item was shipped for me recently, and that was the Tennimon sketches. I freaked, thinking maybe it had come with that shipment, I hadn't seen it and maybe threw it out. But he said only ONE item (meaning one particular auction), so that cel couldn't have been included. So then, where is it? I'm all scared and worried and don't know what to do :(

I love surprises!
last modified: Friday, June 30, 2006 (3:30:59 PM CST)
My Team Rocket sketches arrived today, and I noticed that the package was rather, well, bulky (I had originally won about 6 sketches). Turns out there's like, 10 or 20 more that they added in. Many are kinda blah (like a door) but the rest are gold! Example - Jigglypuff! Jigglypuff is my all-time favorite Pokemon. I even have a plushie laying around here somewhere. So imagine my surprise to find her bubbly face staring up at me as I flipped through my prize. I don't know when I'll have time to scan all these extras in, but I'll do it as soon as I can :)

Cels - the perfect motivation!
last modified: Sunday, June 25, 2006 (10:19:16 PM CST)
Cels, besides looking pretty and making you feel all mushy inside, now have a new use! Getting you to do something ;D I've decided that in order to reach a certain goal, my reward for sticking with it will be an extra special cel. Until I reach said goal, someone will hold onto or take away said cel if I don't pull through. A bit depressing, but wouldn't you work hard if you knew you were getting something you desire?

Can't seem to register at Anime Beta
last modified: Friday, June 23, 2006 (3:45:12 PM CST)
Hoping to make new cel friends (I don't have ANY in real life) I decided to register at Anime Beta. Heck, I figured, maybe somebody would have a Wish List or Team Rocket cel they'd be willing to part with. But it won't let me register? I've tried 5 times, and everytime I hit submit it just takes me back to the register page. Is it down or something?

Anyway, I feel really bad that I've pretty much been a lurker and sometimes visiter at this place. I'd really love to make more friends *hugs* Anybody want to be my buddy *kitty eyes*

I'm flattered you all love my cels...
last modified: Wednesday, June 14, 2006 (12:54:07 PM CST)
Many thanks to all who offered to buy cels from me in order to afford that cel sale. I am very flattered that you enjoy my collection so much. Unfortunately, the only ones I am willing to part with right now are the ones in my [FOR OFFER] section. I might have to put those up at a garage sale (I know *cringe*). But trust me, no schmo will get less than $10 out of them.

I did get some affordably priced Pokemon genga (or douga - I don't know the difference) from the Orange Islands season. I love them so much! They should be shipped within the next 2 weeks. Shopping Mall Japan is a wonderful thing. It's so thrilling to win something even when someone tries to snipe you at the last minute. All you want to do is a little dance, crying "In your face!" I know, it's mean. But come on, it feels good!

Cel sales when you least expect it...
last modified: Wednesday, May 17, 2006 (6:06:02 PM CST)
Hm. Seems my dad just forwarded an email to me from one of my favorite cel stores. They've reduced prices on most of the cels in my watchlist. REALLY CUTE Akazukin Cha Cha stuff. Ohhh... there must be some way I can buy at least one of them ;__;

Weather here in Michigan has been really odd. We've been getting strong rain storms for the past few days. Today it's been sunny AND rainy. The wind is so strong there are whirlygigs all over the yard, like brown snow.

You a winner, hahaha...
last modified: Tuesday, April 25, 2006 (1:41:57 PM CST)
So my FINAL final is at 7 pm tonight. I am so not ready. I had my chance to do more studying, but I'm lazy and I didn't. I just hope the grade won't be as abysmal as my second test in that class. After that, tomorrow mom comes to help me move out of the student apartment and I can finally go home. FOR GOOD, because I won't have to live here next Fall.

I miss updating this place, but as I've had no money (or it's tied up in other things) I can't afford to look around, because then I get depressed and angry. At least my gallery isn't popular so I don't feel any pressure to update every week with "SPESHUL, OMG SPECTAcULAR!!1" cels ;)

Chinese spam - what the heck?
last modified: Tuesday, March 28, 2006 (12:44:38 AM CST)
I've just gotten my THIRD Chinese spam in my email, which have all come from my rubberslug feedback option. I don't know what's up, but it's starting to get on my nerves.

How do they even expect to hook me on their product if I can't even read anything?!

Because I'm hard for cash, and I never really felt anything for these cels, I've put up a few in a new *FOR OFFER* section. If you think you might be interested in any, please contact me with your best offer :) I could also do trades - check my wishlist.

This can't be normal!
last modified: Tuesday, August 30, 2005 (4:55:02 PM CST)
I'm back at college, and things are seriously stressing me out. I'm one of those people who needs some kind of routine. And my roommates, two friends and one person I don't know, are being so "togetherness." I get little time to myself and I hope when classes start it will cool them down. Luckily everyone is out today until 9 so I'm getting a breather. Trying to work on some stories I've been neglecting.

No new cels yet. But my dad did let me borrow his Gamecube that he just bought (on Sunday) for awhile. I talked to him yesterday and now he tells me he went out and bought a Playstation 2 O_O Is this some kind of delayed midlife crisis? Well anyway, this means I can play Dance Dance Revolution if I can talk him into buying it. It's good exercise and a lot of fun. Even I can do it!

New York, New York!
last modified: Tuesday, August 02, 2005 (2:19:49 PM CST)
I got back from New York on the 20th. What a ride!

x) My purse was stolen. Yeah.
x) Found this wonderful book store that sold Japanese magazines, DVDs, books on every subject you could think of, CDs, plushies, stationary, etc. I could've spent all day in there. And you knew the stuff was legit because 98-99% of the customers were Asian. I would move to New York just so I could go there once a week. And work there, maybe. But I think you probably have to be near fluent in Japanese.
x) Didn't get to see the Statue. Yuckers.
x) Saw Monty Python's Spamalot. Funny stuff.

Anyway, now it's all about getting ready for school. I think I'm the only one around here dreading it like a trip to the doctor's to have my gums removed.

Didn't blow up any cels...
last modified: Wednesday, July 06, 2005 (6:13:50 PM CST)
I don't think I'll ever get how cels are priced. I'm seeing American cels go for much cheaper (at least the ones I've looked at) than many anime cels, and are a lot rarer (example: A Muppet Babies cel is $10, while you could get a similar Hime-chan no Ribbon cel for $80). Is it because anime cels are more popular? That doesn't really make sense. Perhaps I may never know.

I worry about my cels lately. I don't know the best way to take care of them, and don't want to ruin the wonderful things, like I'm the caretaker or something. For now they're in a cel PROfolio stored on a shelf in my dad's office. I found he had moved it a few days ago, ON IT'S SIDE! The cels were falling out when I picked it up! So I'm upset about that, but I don't know where else to stick them right now. They don't warp, do they?

Anyway, I didn't do anything for the 4th - well, that you're supposed to do, anyway. No fireworks, no "celebrating your country by blowing up a part of it" or anything ;) Just kinda sat around. Boring, right? At least I go to New York in less than 2 weeks. I'll be anxious to check out Chinatown. I wonder if they have a Morning Glory.

Cels when you don't have the money...
last modified: Monday, June 27, 2005 (5:18:13 PM CST)
I found a Hey Arnold cel! And it's $100, which I don't have! Agh! What to do, what to do! They're super rare, and it's killing me!

My Daa! Daa! Daa! cels have reached the Japan office and I have been billed. Phew. I'm happy.

Scoped out the area for video rentals and joined Hollywood Video. They have so much stuff I was overstimulated. At least I got to rent Tokyo Godfathers out of the deal.

Cords, cels, and pricey songs...
last modified: Thursday, June 23, 2005 (11:33:31 PM CST)
I got one of those cords that lets you plug your iPod into your stereo. It's neato. I've been blasting it the past few days.

The only cel related news I have right now is that it's been 20 days and my Daa! Daa! Daa! cels still haven't reached Shopping Mall Japan's Japan office. Even by some kind of Japanese Media Mail, if the seller sent it like that, it shouldn't take this long. Boo.

Mostly I've been playing my Sims 2 game. I've been downloading like mad. It's crazy, fun, and addicting. Especially if you want to pass, say, 5 hours, haha.

And, oh yes, Napster is a joke. It's not the $10 a month I'm really upset about. It's the fact that they "copy protect" all the songs so you can't use your own burning programs. No, you have to pay to use theirs, and they charge you per song as well. I may have to go back to Limewire, spyware and all. At least it wouldn't eat through my pocket *shakes fist*

I built this basement on rock and roll...
last modified: Friday, June 17, 2005 (12:38:04 AM CST)
Nolan (my sister's boyfriend) has helped himself to my anime collection. Not that I mind too much. It's nice to have someone to talk about anime with. He took Spirited Away and Lost Universe vol. 1. They'd better come back in good shape, boy!

Speaking of anime, I spotted Marmalade Boy Ultimate Scrapbook 1 on Ebay for $25. I freaked out and bid. Thankfully I won. Yeah! Finally, after over a year, I was able to get it. Scratch one thing off my huge Amazon Wish List ;)

My Team Rocket cels are safe and sound in the cel binder. Don't worry, I'll only be using scans of the cels, and not the actual cels, in my new bathroom. All I've shown them to were very impressed. To say the least, they are a future investment *kisses them* Now I'm back on the prowl for Daa! Daa! Daa! cels. It never ends, does it? @_@

So here I am, listening to 80s music and chilling in the almost finished basement. It really doesn't look like one now that the walls are painted and most of my things are here. I think after I'm done here I'll go upstairs and finish off the Punky Brewster Season 2 boxset. Ah, childhood memories!

By the way, does anyone know of any really good artists who do commission fan cels, and where I can find them? Also, what is the best paper to print backgrounds for cels on? How do I 'lazer print' them?

Getting cels, and putting out the flyers
last modified: Saturday, June 11, 2005 (12:40:03 PM CST)
I'm so happy that I was able to get the cels. I waited on that email with baited breath. To quote Zoidberg, "HOORAY!". Thank you to all who offered your kindness and gave me links to find what I wanted. I'm very grateful. You guys are grand. I just hope they ship them soon if they haven't already. I plan to scan the cels in high quality, frame them, and put them in my new bathroom as part of my Pokemon theme (it will probably mold into Team Rocket only, but I'd like to get the 'brats' in there somewheres) :D

My Uncle is here until sometime tomorrow. After he leaves I'm going to drive around the city putting some flyers up about my small business. I hope it'll get a 'boom' going (it's an Ebay listing service). I need to recover from those cels, while also getting some extra spending cash until I have to go back to college and can barely get myself anything fun.

Please oh please let me get these cels...
last modified: Thursday, June 09, 2005 (3:50:52 PM CST)
I'm scraping at the bottom of the penny purse, but I've decided to go and order a set of Team Rocket cels. Now, they've been on the site for as long as I can recall (since last year), and the last they updated was February, so I can only wish with all my might that they still have it in stock. If they do, I will be so happy. If not... well, I'll be sad, of course. I'm trying to think of a 'backup' purchase so I won't come out emptyhanded, though. Everybody else has their rare, 'wow' factor, so I want one too ;_; Maybe it'll make my collection not so... pathedic.

It turns out my friend has called off her wedding (she's "found someone new" and they have "more chemistry"). Best of luck to her, I guess. At least I don't have to worry about buying anything. But there's still the issue of Father's Day. Since my dad is helping me pay for those cels, I don't know what to get him :/

Work on the basement will begin soon, hopefully. Since I'll be living down there when not at college, I'm thinking of a fantasy/new age theme. Kinda like a hobbit hole, only not really. I want the walls to be orange, but that's really all I've decided right now.

Might as well, it's been over a month...
last modified: Friday, June 03, 2005 (8:58:02 PM CST)
I'm dressed like Valentine's Day. I've got on a red shirt, pink jeans, and purple sneakers. It's crazy.

No cel purchases as of late. With so many money woes I haven't had the extra cash. Father's Day is this month, and my friend's wedding in July may not happen, so I'm not sure if I should be buying a gift yet.

We've moved into the new house, to note. It's a lot smaller and the yard is very cramped, but it's OK I suppose. Here's hoping I can adjust quickly.

I'm trying to stay up as late as I can, because I know I can't get up early enough for when this Pokemon cel auction ends (stupid time differences). I may even chicken out and not bid at all, but it would be SO worth it!

My family is selling the house and putting it on the market this month, so I'm moving things around - I've moved into my sister's old room, and I have a bigger TV to watch my anime on =D Oh, and my other DVDs. I can't get cable or anything on it, but it's not like I watch cable much anyway, save for a few select channels on DIGITAL cable. I just finished watching Hey Arnold: The Movie. I love that show. I wish I could find some cels or production sketches, but the cheapest I could dream for would be, like, $200 I guess. If they even exist.

Oh well. Until later!

Oh dear, oh dear...

I need to buy a cel! Well, at least I THINK I want to buy one. It's been a long while, and I've been neglecting this place.

So, college starts up once again. I am severely sleep deprived, very tired, worn out, you get the jist. Too much homework, too much stress. I hate it. Sigh...

I plan to buy a few things with leftover Christmas money, then put the rest towards my trip to WDW in May. My sister was going to come with me and dad, but has to back out for financial reasons. Bah. Now who can we get to go with us?

The Pokemon are having a Christmas bash...
last modified: Friday, December 17, 2004 (10:33:51 PM CST)
GAH! Good lord! The Pokemon Christmas Bash CD is ADORABLE! I love it. Can't believe I prolonged listening to it for so long.

Well, nothing to report cel-wise. I'm taking a break, mostly because I have NO money set aside for stuff like that. I still have people to shop for, I hope to be at least 98% done by the end of this weekend. I'm still totally lost on what to get my dad.

2 more weeks, much more sleep...
last modified: Friday, December 10, 2004 (6:02:20 PM CST)
Well, the school semester is officially over. No more tests or anything of the sort to worry about right now.

Now I can focus on Christmas and shopping for gifts for said holiday. I haven't gotten ANYTHING done yet, and there's only roughly 2 weeks left. Gah!

Akibado is taking friggin 5 years to process my deputy order. I haven't even gotten any emails that they've recieved it at their office yet. I shudder to think of how long it'll actually take once they ship it to ME *shudder*

Akibado and Shopping Mall Japan... the pros and cons...
last modified: Saturday, November 27, 2004 (4:06:31 PM CST)
I've decided that Akibado will probably be where I go as backup when Shopping Mall Japan is closed or won't let me bid on a certain item.

Both are deputy services. I thought this list might help me decide, so...

[PROS] Can special order pretty much anything
Bidding fees not as expensive
Can bid on auctions SMJ has blocked
[CONS] Paying deposit long and annoying process
Must put in deposit day before at the least
You have to pay a deposit each time you want to bid or even raise your maximum
Pay fees you didn't have to with SMJ

[PROS] One time deposit payment, and they don't really even have the money, they can just take it should you not pay - so if your deposit is $100, you can bid on as many auctions as you want, provided you don't go over 2 times your deposit amount. Once you're done the deposit amount stays the same
Easy to use, not confusing and vague
Responses to emails don't take as long because they're on the same time line
[CONS] Block certain auctions where the seller doesn't want to deal with deputy services (looks like you can get around that with Akibado - at least I think so, we'll see)
Does not take special orders beyond cels

I think we can plainly see that SMJ is better, although as I said, Akibado will only be used for emergencies :)

I hope by tomorrow I win that doujinshi I've been itching for. Wish me luck!

Finding that dream doujinshi... and happy thanksgiving!
last modified: Wednesday, November 24, 2004 (2:38:25 PM CST)
You know that feeling you get when you find something you really want, and could pee all over yourself in excitement?

I'm feeling it now. No, it's not a cel. I also collect doujinshi, which is another anime related hobby that not a lot of people get into. Which is fine with me, less competition.

So anyway, Satoshi x Kasumi doujinshi (from Pokemon) are really very rare, at least where I check. There's bunches of oats of Satoshi x Takeshi, or Satoshi x Shigeru, or yes, even Satoshi x Kojirou or Pikachu (you don't want to know). Which I find really odd and can't figure out, since I figured that pairing was at least semi popular!

I found one today and I'm in shreds! I must have it! If I lose, I will be heartbroken. So nobody bid - I know where you sleep... somewhere on Earth!

And just so this will be cel related, um... I'm putting a Team Rocket cel on my Christmas Wish List! Here's to hoping :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

When a Pig's Ear is really a PIG'S EAR...
last modified: Saturday, November 13, 2004 (2:06:10 AM CST)
Ugh. I thought the term Pig's Ear was for a cute kind of doggie bone chewie toy. Turns out, what my sister got the dog really IS a dried up PIG'S EAR! So gross! I can't even look at it or go near it, so disgusting.

Today I go out and (hopefully) get a video editing/add pretty effects program from Office Max/Depot/Some Office Store. I have an idea for some Christmas gifts, and I LOVE tinkering with stuff like that.

I have the doujinshi itch right now. Must purchase Slayers/Spirited Away/Pokemon doujinshi :B Poor, poor me!

College is like Robot Hell... without the catchy songs...
last modified: Wednesday, November 10, 2004 (1:10:41 PM CST)
I hate college. I wish it was over. I really, really do. I've already been to college once before and yet here I am, doing it again.

I'll all tense. I'm so tense if I stood in an updraft I'd twang. Last night I got little sleep because my muscles were tightning up from an earlier panic attack. Today I have too much to do and I'm just not going to get it done. I have to have priorities now on what homework is more important to finish, you know? It sucks.

Well, anyway, I wish I could scan my Saint Tail and Hime-chan no Ribbon cels, but they haven't arrived yet! I have them mailed to home, and dad hasn't been there to see if they're... well, there, and the last he checked last Monday, they still weren't! AHHHH!

Finding wishlist stuff when you've no money...
last modified: Friday, November 05, 2004 (2:17:58 PM CST)
Bah! I've found some Comet-san sketches on Yahoo! Japan, but I'm broke from buying the Hime-chan cel! It just isn't fair :[ This always happens to me, I have the worst of luck. They're not that great, so I guess I can get over it and wait the several days or weeks before some pop up again. Oh, the woes of being a poor college student with a "not doing so hot" internet business.

I want to burn every piece of homework the professors give me now. I'm just too tired.

I see "The Incredibles" today! Yeah!

Happy Halloween, and why I want to collect 'bridal' cels...
last modified: Sunday, October 31, 2004 (3:45:02 PM CST)
The trick-or-treaters should be here in two hours or so. We have Twix bars and Skittles. I claim leftovers if possible.

Happy Halloween everyone!

If I had the money, I thought it would be cute to collect "shoujo related" cels. Like, people blushing, kissing, getting married, that sort of thing. Do you know what I mean? I've seen a number of cels with anime girls in bridal outfits, and that gave me the idea. But they're usually shows I've never even heard of, or simply cost too much to be worth it. Oh well. Maybe, maybe not.

Digital shows means no cels?
last modified: Saturday, October 30, 2004 (1:32:16 PM CST)
Something that has been worrying me lately is the trend of digitally made shows. That's all fine and good, but it means anything that pops up, be they character sketches or genga or douga, will be very expensive, considering there will be NO cels! Any favorite scenes or characters will not be available in cel form. Luckily I have not become a fan of any of those shows... yet.

But for recent favorites, like Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san, and Princess Tutu, I have found NOTHING - not even sketches - of these shows. Comet sketches exist - I saw some once - but this is proving to be quite a challenge. Several cel sites, and even in Yahoo! Japan and Google Japan, the searches have come up with nothing. Am I working for nothing? Do they no longer exist, or are simply sitting in an otaku's closet in Japan, never to see the light? Perhaps in the back of a shop in Japan for 600 yen that I'll never know are there?

I think about this a lot. It's rather depressing.

Ravioli - Cook It, Don't Spray It!
last modified: Wednesday, October 27, 2004 (3:23:16 PM CST)
I really HATE those microwavable ravioli things. I need to tell dad to stop buying me those. Everytime I open the lid, sauce gets everywhere! Then I have to search around and clean it all up. Either I'm a klutz, or they need better lids.

I wish I were at home, instead of typing up a literature paper at this student apartment. I want to hug my dog, and do other "When I'm at home" stuff. At least I get to go home for Halloween, though no doubt the teachers will pile up the crap on me. They usually do.

I got an email from the seller of the Saint Tail cel. Said shipping had been delayed and I should finally get it in about a week. I don't mind, really. I'm not in any hurry.

I need to cut off Sims 2 from my brain, but it's proving impossible!

Next entry I shall try to make more interesting ;)

Oh, Barry Manilow, you're so swell...
last modified: Sunday, October 24, 2004 (2:17:59 PM CST)
The Barry Manilow concert was very enjoyable! Of all the songs he sang, I only knew two, so the rest of the time I was like "OK, it's a good song" while everyone else was crazy-go-nuts. I heard someone with a teenage voice scream "I LOVE YOU BARRY!" at the top of her lungs. This happened a few times, but nobody was rowdy or wild or crazy - which I guess you can expect with an audience of at least 80% middle aged or older ;) Not knocking on the older folks, but it's true! Even getting out of the parking lot wasn't as painful as it would be with an audience of younger folks. Although, I wouldn't really know as I've only been to one official concert before in my life, and that was when I was a kid!

Anyway, I had a good time. Mr. Manilow is a nice guy. If I had the chance to see him again, I probably would.

In other news, someone was nice enough to email me a link to a webpage featuring a Team Rocket cel! That was VERY nice of you, and I just need to thank you again. I only wish I could afford it, but I'm certainly going to see what I can do! Christmas maybe?

Hello-ski! First entry!
last modified: Saturday, October 23, 2004 (11:43:46 AM CST)
I already have an online journal, but why not? Let's give this a shot.

Well, let's see. Today I go with my mom and two of my Aunts to a concert. It's not really my kind of music, but if I'm not paying I think I can deal ;)

Last night (or should I say, this morning) I won a wish list cel! I couldn't even believe it - nobody bid against me, I won without a struggle. Which really shocked me, I figured it wouldn't be easy. It's a Hime-chan no Ribbon cel featuring Himeko, Daichi, and Pokota! I love it! The problem is the deputy and shipping fees that will follow. I can't afford to spend this much right now, but dammit, I simply had to have it! I have buyer's remorse :( If I hadn't won, I would've gotten this cute Daa! Daa! Daa! cel instead.

I've got the bug. NOT a good thing for a college student to have.
